The war that began on 24 February 2022 between Ukraine and Russia did not only cause extensive damage and loss of life in major cities but as well distorted the supply chains all around the globe. As insecurity persists, both local and national supply chains have been disrupted. In line of these changes, and based on B325 course material AND external resources, EXPLAIN the importance of supply chain management and CRITICALLY DISCUSS how to make fragile global supply chain stronger (word limit: 1500 words).

What you need to consider before you start your TMA: Before starting your TMA, make sure to do your own research and ensure that the information needed is available. To do so, you need to use search engine, such as google scholar, google, ask.com, yahoo.com, etc. to search for articles, reports that discuss supply chain characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, current challenges and actions that can be taken to make global supply chain stronger. Your answer should not be listing of ideas but rather a critical discussion of relevant elements. Recommendations are expected in this regard at the end of your answer.

Hint: in your essay, you need to consider the following:
B325 relevant course material: chapter 5 related to supply chain management.
Explain relevant course material in a comprehensive way; i.e. no listing making sure that explanation is an integrated part of the answer.
Clearly define what is meant by supply chain and what is needed to have successful SCM. From this perspective, you are to explain different types of goals and how supply chain is managed through partnership strategies, coordination, etc. You are to highlight as well goal incompatibility and its implications and actions that can be taken.
Explain clearly supply chain and in particular global supply chain and their impact, advantages and disadvantages, and challenges faced and that are obvious reference Ukraine and Russia war. Actions that can be taken to make global supply chain stronger are to be provided based on your readings. Ideas may not be straight forward and hence this will be reflective of your level of understanding and ability to implement the course material to real life cases.

Your answer should be written in an essay format.
In the introduction, you may reflect provide a definition about supply chain and its importance while opening a discussion about the latest circumstances in particular at the level of the war between Ukraine and Russia and how it changed our perception about supply chain and how it affected global supply chain.
The body text can be dedicated to explaining relevant theories. The implications of the war between Ukraine and Russia particularly at the level of disruption in global supply chains, advantages and disadvantages of supply chains, and challenges discovered to global supply chain reference the war. Actions that can be taken at several levels (global, national governments, international organizations, etc.) are to be discussed as well.
Challenges faced in the supply chain and consequently discussing and critically elaborating on actions to ensure a better arrangement and avoid similar problems in the future and make sure that things are not getting worse is an expected discussion.
The conclusion can summarize the discussion and provide recommendations in line with what has been advanced.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS

Cut-off date: Specific date to be specified later by deanship. If you feel that you are unable to meet the cut-off date of the TMA because of unusual circumstances, please contact your tutor as soon as possible to discuss a possible extension to the cut-off date. The exact cut-off date will be assigned in due course.
TMA weight: 20% of total course grade.
Course material:
Chapter 5.
Format: Write your answers in essay format. Failing to do so could result in grade deduction from presentation marks up to 5 marks. You may, however, use bullet points, diagrams, tables, or any graphs to support your arguments.
Plagiarism: Write your answers using your own words. Plagiarism will be penalized depending on its severity and according to AOU plagiarism policy (Enclosed after these instructions you will find the Arab Open University Rules of Cheating and Plagiarism).
Word count: Answers are expected to be within +/- 10% of the word limit. Answers that fall below or above this range can lose up to 5 marks.
Referencing: Use Harvard referencing style for in-text citation and make a table of references at the end. Failing to do so could result grade deduction of referencing marks up to 5 marks.
Research: Use a minimum of two additional sources of information. It is strongly recommended that you use scholarly articles found in the E-library at LMS. You can lose up to 5 marks if you do not use at least two external sources. In addition, although text books assigned in the course may be used freely as references, you are required to use a minimum of 2 external sources. It is recommended that you use scholarly studies found in the E-library link at the LMS. Failing to do so could result in grade deduction of referencing marks up to 5 marks. If you do not find required additional information at the e-library, you can always refer to Google scholar.
